Blog Slacker

Let's see a little update from the past month...

Not much has been happening, we have been starting to plant a garden in our backyard for spring. My mom has been extremely helpful with that as I am not the best gardener. Jeff and I have been trying to catch up on our rest, although one particular family member has been recharging the most:

We have been trying different hikes to wear out Penny, but mostly she just pulls us up a mountain. We recently hiked Black Mountain, not realizing we didn't take the correct path and instead climbing the face of the mountain. We were definitely sore after that one!

Jeff is almost through with busy season!!! Next week is his last job so things will be slowing down after that and to celebrate we have booked a night in our favorite staycation spot and appointments at their spa. It is going to be wonderful and this is where you will find us:
After that Jeff's birthday is May 4th and we are leaving for Minnesota for a few days to visit The Gray Family! I cannot wait to see them and the bubbies and get to meet this cutie:

BYU vs. SDSU GAME!

Last weekend, we went to the BYU vs. SDSU game with Mark and Janis! (my in-laws) Both teams are each other alumni's so it was fun being "competitive" with one another. In the end, BYU embarrassed SDSU, but it was a fun game despite the creative and witty state students with their acronym signs and costumes. After the game, they took us to a wonderful restaurant in Balboa Park, The Prado. Janis, Mark and I ate some delicious fish tacos while Jeff had a BBQ pork sandwich. It was a great double date and we are so glad we could spend that time with them.

Learning to entertain oneself...

Jeff went out of town for a week and I found myself trying to remember what it was like to spend time by myself. Sounds so weird, but Jeff and I have been together for so long, I rarely have had time to just be alone! To begin things, I had to sleep by myself in our house for the first time. I would triple check every single door and window every night, but I managed to survive and talk myself out of calling the police after every little noise I heard. Don't forget I have Penny who is our tough guard dog...she managed to sleep through each night despite what I thought I would hear.

I ate dinner at my parent's house after work where I would pick up Penny. When I finally got the courage to go back to our house, I turned on every light, even the unnecessary ones in the spare bedrooms just to warn anyone who might think about coming in that I am home! I caught up on a lot of my reality television shows that Jeff doesn't like to watch. (For some reason, any of the real housewives seasons drag me in; the beverly hills woman make me wonder why anyone would really want to look that plastic) I thought about doing the laundry, but without my partner who folds it, I really saw no reason to start it. Even my kitchen, which I only ate breakfast in for the week began having dishes piling up because once again, the person who helps with all that wasn't there.

So after a week with no husband, I came to the conclusion that despite how nice it was to have some alone time, life is really not the same. I really appreciate the life that we have with one another. It's easy to forget those kinds of things when you see each other everyday.

Luckily he is home in time for Valentine's Day :)

"Man these times are rough"

It always feels like January goes by too fast with Jeff and I. "Busy season" for Jeff has begun and he has a lot of big opportunities coming his way in his career. The next 5 months are going to be tough and already have been hard on both of us. He works 60-70+ hour weeks and I have been working very early in the morning so most days one of us is asleep when one comes home or leaves for the day! It really tests our marriage on a daily basis! Wish we could be newlyweds a little bit longer :/
But, for the meanwhile we will laugh, cry, argue and bicker about everything until life slows down for just a moment! Found this song by The Script, who I love and really thought this song captures the past 2 months of our new lives!

Weekend getaway

Mom and I went up to visit my brother last weekend in Los Angeles since he is such an awesome brother and booked us massages at a very nice hotel in Beverly Hills. We decided to stay a night and relax. It was wonderful and much needed. We even got to lay by the pool Sunday because it was 80 degrees out. Oh southern California. (Sorry Niki!!)

Meanwhile Jeff got a much needed boys weekend full of golf, football and eating. He enjoyed it!

thanksgiving/christmas/new years?

the holidays were great!! I have absolutely no proof of our christmas of 2011. Except for our one picture we took in front of the tree as a family.

We had a wonderful time in our new home for these holidays, although it was stressful moving in, putting up decorations and then taking them down only to realize we have no actual house decorations.

After a little over 2 months, I think the house is shaping up!

New years eve? Being the married couple we are, I fell asleep before midnight( I had a cold) while Jeff stayed up and played his new video game. It was great! Happy 2011!!

slacker much?

I have no excuses.

I have been very bad at updating this blog.

But, I'm ready, it's 2011. My resolution is to keep up with my blogging.

....I know its already 26 days into the year and I obviously can't make up resolutions this far into it.

Here comes some updates!
